Geraldine (Gerrie) Vinson Turnage, 81, of Middleburg, FL died peacefully at her residence with family by her side. Born in Deland, FL she has been living in Middleburg for the past 5 ½ years. A 35 year resident of Callahan, she was a member of First Baptist Church. Being very active in her church she held office as Treasurer, Secretary, Card Committee and Decorating, which brought much joy to her and others, for all Senior/Adult and “Glory Class” gatherings. Upon graduating the oldest Sunday School Class, “the Glory Class” ,the next step is entering into “Glory”, where she now resides.
Loving Jesus with all her heart made her concerned about the Salvation of Family and Friends. She lived a life that truly showed God’s love and mercy. Jesus was the “light” of her heart and life and it showed in her smile, gentleness and genuine concern.
Her family rejoices that she is now in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ. God, we are so grateful that you have once again “done all things well’. We pray that as you read “her-story” that you will come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior of your life.
Preceded in death by husband, Sam Turnage and grand-daughter Julie Allen. Survivors include her daughters, Marlene (Bruce) Kodatt, Marcelle (Terry) Fisher, her son-in-law Bill Allen, and 5 grand-children, Matt (Alina) Kodatt, Kris (Felicia) Allen, Kelly (Ande) Johnson, Ben (Megan) Kodatt and Jeff Allen. 7 Great grand-children, Ethan, Jules, Evie, Karis, Owen, Annie and Knox. She was eagerly awaiting the birth, at any time, for her 8th great-grand-child, MaryClaire Vinson Kodatt.
Family Visitation will be held at 10am and Celebration of her Life service will be held at 11am on Friday, December 9, 2011 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with Reverend Andrew Johnson officiating. Private Family Interment at 3pm in Jacksonville.
