Stephens_pic_optAarin Leigh Stephens, 41, died Saturday morning at her residence surrounded by family. Mrs. Stephens was born in Laredo, TX and she had been a resident of Fleming Island since 2006.  She graduated from Wagner High School,  Clark Air Force Base in the Republic of the Philippines and  received her degree in Early Child Education from Indiana University.  She was a school volunteer at Thunderbolt Elementary School.  Her church membership was at the Orange Park United Methodist Church where she served on the Family Council and Susanna Wesley Womens Circle.  She was also active in many aspects of the Girl Scouts including Troop Leader and Service Unit Officer.  Her family remembers her as a child of God, a happy wife and mother who loved being involved, and an excellent teacher. Survivors include her husband Britt Stephens; parents Jerrell and Beverly Freeman; daughters Sydney and Kelsey; brother Scott (Courtney) Freeman; maternal grandmother Marybeth Hunt of Penney Farms; and paternal grandfather Aubrey Freeman of Dade City, FL.

 

Memorial Service were held at 2:00 p.m. , Friday, August 12, 2011 in the Orange Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Becker officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to: Orange Park United Methodist Church; 152 Stowe Avenue, Orange Park, FL, 32073; or Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, Clay County Service Center, 4375 Lazy Acres Road, Middleburg, FL 32068.
