Franklin “Jamesâ Elliott, 59 of Fleming Island passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 26, 2011. He was a native of Columbus, GA and a resident of Fleming Island for the past 3 years when he moved from Mississippi to be near his family. He was a man of many skills which included plumbing, building pools and farming. He is veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Marine Corps as a Military Policeman. He loved watching his University of Georgia football and playing with his dogs Cricket and Ginger. He is a 1970 graduate of Baker High School in Columbus GA.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Dorothy Lovett Elliott, son Gene (Jennifer) Champion, his grandson, Brad Champion, 3 sisters Nell Elliott, Pat Basalier and Jerry Teal and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and grand nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery and Funeral Home with Chaplin Benjamin Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery with military honors.
