Robert “Macâ Butler, of Fleming Island died peacefully Friday morning at his residence. Mr. Butler was a native of Clinton, NC, and had been a resident of Clay County for 10 years having resided in Florida since 1960. Mr. Butler was a member of Russell Baptist Church for the past 6 years following his church membership of Murray Hill Baptist where he served as a deacon since 1988. He retired from Independent Life Insurance Company and was a member of the Marine Corps League of Clay County. Mac was a friend to all and loved everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Sharon Butler, 1 daughter, “his angelâ Debbi (Bryan) Taylor, 3 sisters Pat Lassiter, Jean Winstead and Sara Savage, 3 adored grandsons Travis Mikell, Wayne Mikell, and Chad Taylor, his great granddaughter, Braylee, who is expected in January.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in Russell Baptist Church with burial to follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Tuesday evening at the church.
