Laura Angelica Mignucci of Bronx NY and residing in Middleburg, FL died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the home of her beloved children Dennis and Cathy Berdecia following a long fight with Leukemia and Alzheimer’s disease.

 

She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on March 10, 1925 to her parents Enriqueta Mignucci and Adon De La Rosa who have predeceased her.  Also preceding her in death was her son Henry Berdecia.

 

At the age of 19, independent and free spirited, she found her way to the Bronx and began her role as a career mom.  As a single parent, she managed to make ends meet and provided for her 3 children.

 

Laura was a missionary and ambassador of her Lord Jesus Christ and served by feeding the homeless for over 15 years and as a nursery attendant for over 10 years.  Her loves were her family, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and adopting and feeding the local cats and dogs.  She was a woman of many trades.  She was an amazing and loving mother, provider, grandmother, great grandmother and best friend.

 

She is survived by her 3 children Dennis Berdecia, Cathy Berdecia and Elba Berdecia, 10 grandchildren Dennis Berdecia, Denise Deleon, Laurie Ladesma, Vincent Berdecia, Matthew Berdecia, Michael Berdecia, Christopher Colon and Rebecca Colon, 15 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest.  Visitation will be from 1-2:00pm prior to services.  Dr. Brett Maragni, Dennis Berdecia and Alex Rodriguez will officiate.  Burial will follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.
