Richard Arthur Flemmer, 78, of Jacksonville died Sunday in a local hospital.  Mr. Flemmer was born in St. Louis, MO, and had been a resident of Jacksonville since 1963.  He was a member of the All Souls Anglican Church, a local business owner until retirement and a veteran of the US Army.  His joy was his weekly tennis matches at the Williams Family YMCA where he also served as a volunteer for many activities. He also served as a volunteer for the Salvation Army as a Christmas bell ringer.

 

Mr. Flemmer was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Doris, and is survived by 3 children:  Mitch (Beneita) Flemmer, Mike Flemmer, and Marsha (Byron) Peacock, 1 sister:  Joyce Orr of Springfield, MO, 5 grandchildren:  Steven, David and Rachel Flemmer, Melanie and Melinda Peacock.

 

Funeral Services were held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 4, 2009, with visitation for one hour prior to service time in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, with The Rev. George Hall officiated.
