Hayn pic_optOn Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 1:11 p.m., surrounded by loved ones, 83 year old Elfrieda E. Hayn, of Orange Park, Florida, passed into eternity, welcomed by the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Hayn was under the care of Community Hospice at Governors Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Green Cove Springs, where she had remained for several weeks.

Mrs. Hayn was born on September 13, 1928 in Guttenberg, NJ to the late Katarina Appel Stein and Johann H. Stein. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald G. Hayn.

With a background in piano, Elfrieda obtained a music degree from Nyack Missionary College, New York. She volunteered as pianist and organist for her home church in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey for many years. When she moved to Orange Park in 1986 following the death of her husband, she joined Fellowship Bible Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, where she lovingly and faithfully served as pianist for 25 years. She was as generous a person as you could ever hope to meet and was particularly instrumental in the church obtaining property on which to build.

Elfrieda greatly loved the Lord Jesus and was at all times eager to share His love with others.   She thought of her church as her family and was always in attendance, unless her health prevented it.   At church the little children knew her as the “candy lady,” as every Sunday after church she opened her bag of goodies and gave each child a piece of candy. She had developed her taste for “good chocolate” while working in her father’s candy store for a number of years.

Surviving are one daughter, Heidi M. Hayn, and one son, Gerald J. Hayn, both of Orange Park; two grandsons, Tristan Keefe of New Jersey and Derek Keefe of Orange Park; one brother, John Stein (Martha), and one sister, Maria Egli, all of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; several nieces and nephews and other family members; and many friends and loved ones of Fellowship Bible Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Middleburg, FL, all who cherish her memory.

Elfrieda was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

The memorial service will be held in early January 2012 at Fellowship Bible Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, 2827 County Road 220, Middleburg, FL, with Rev. Gary M. Shilling officiating.
