Mr. John Wallace Hill, Jr., 63, died Monday, October 24, 2011 in a local hospital.  After serving in the USMC from 1967-1969, he lived in California, Arizona and Louisiana while working with the US Post Office.   Mr. Hill then became a resident of Green Cove Springs (Lake Asbury) in 1985.  He retired after 34 years from the US Post Office and served as Post Master in Middleburg from 1989-2004.  He loved his family and enjoyed coaching softball for his granddaughter's team as well as playing horseshoes and pool with his friends.  He will be missed by many friends.

 

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Gloria "Ann" Hill, one son, Jeffrey Wade Hill, one daughter, Cynthia Marie Hill Gause, and two grandchildren, Jaylen Wade Hill and Hanna Leigh Gause.

 

Memorial Services will be held 5:00 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest with USMC Military Honors.  The Rev. John Francis will be officiating.  Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 pm until service time.
