Rodney Lamar Vining, 71, went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2011.  He was also affectionately known as “The Train Manâ.  Lamar was a native of Jacksonville, but lived in Green Cove Springs, FL. Lamar was retired from Laboratory Corporation of America and was the owner of a children’s train known as “My Trainâ.

He was predeceased by his parents, Freeman Vining, Sr. and Susie Vining; his brother, Freeman Vining, Jr.; and his son, Judson Dean Vining.  Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lynda Jackson Vining; sisters Beverly Holt (Don) of Tallahassee, Jacqueline Vining of Ft. Lauderdale; sister-in-law Doris Marie Vining of Jacksonville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 am Friday, September 30, 2011 at Russell Baptist Church, Green Cove Springs, FL with Rev. Ron Baker officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:30-11:00 prior to services.

Because of his love of children, the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Russell Baptist Church youth fund, 2299 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs, FL  32043.
