Rev. Russell “Russâ Lind, 65 of Middleburg, Fl, died Monday at his residence.    Rev. Lind was a native of Escanaba, MI where he graduated from Escanaba High School, was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church of Escanaba for 35 years as well as traveling with the “Crossroads Quartetâ all over Michigan.  He was a member of the Russell Baptist Church of Green Cove Springs, FL, where he was an Assoc Pastor and Adult Sunday School Teacher.  During his life, he was an evangelist and musician traveling with his wife throughout the United States as well as being an author.  Rev. Lind had a special calling for serving others and spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Rev. Lind served his country from 1965-1971 in the US Army National Guard.

 

He was a loving husband and devoted family man and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon Lind, children Russell (Vicki) Lind, Jamie (Dawne) Lind and Cheri (Randy) Englund, 2 brothers Eugene Slagstad and Verne Slagstad, 9 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Wayne, Vincent, Kathleen and Verla.

 

Funeral Services were held 12:00 (noon) Friday, January 7, 2011, in Russell Baptist Church with burial in the Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery.  Rev. Ron Baker and Bro. Eugene Slagstad officiated. Visitation with the family was from 11:00 until service time on Friday at the church.
